Miller Spagnolo wedding

Lacie Eileen Miller &
James Arthur Spagnolo III

April 21, 2007

Family

Eileen and Gary Miller; Marlene and James Spagnolo II.

Ceremony

Lacie and Jim were blessed with a warm, early-spring afternoon when they pledged their vows at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church (311 Siebert Road, Ross Township; 412/364-8999). The Rev. Joseph Mele officiated; 450 guests were in attendance. Jimmy coaches at St. Sebastian School, so a lot of his fourth-grade players came to the church to see their coach get hitched.

Flowers

Ken Milko at Flowers in the Attic (7505 Saltsburg Road, Penn Hills; 412/798-2200, flowersintheattic.com) created bouquets bursting with lilies. Bridesmaids carried "something blue" in the form of beautiful nosegays that incorporated soft spring hues. Milko decked out both the church and the reception, using gardenias, which are a favorite of Lacie's father.

Photographer

As well as being a baseball coach, Jimmy is a big Pirates fan. His bride conspired with photographer Jim Scott (Scott Studio, Ross Township; 412/630-4620, jimscottstudio.com) for the couple to make a surprise stop at PNC Park for photos. When Jim got to touch the grass at the ballpark, Lacie says he had a look on his face like that of "a kid on Christmas morning."

On the Bride

Lacie tried on more than 50 dresses, and then stopped at Carlisle's (2549 Penn Ave., Strip District; 412/562-5800, bridalwear.com), hoping her long search would be over. One of the store clerks pulled out an elegantly beaded Mon Cheri gown, the last one the store had available. It fit perfectly right off the rack!

On the Groom

Jimmy made sure his groomsmen had a say in the tuxes, rented at Tuxedo Junction (Ross Park Mall, Ross Township; 412/366-3056, tuxedojunction.com). After the men conferred, his 11-year-old brother, Devin, made the final decision.

Reception

The bridal party literally danced their way into the lavish reception, held at the Embassy Suites (550 Cherrington Parkway, Moon Township; 412/269-9070, embassysuites1.hilton.com). The party kept going with more than 300 guests in attendance, who enjoyed a cocktail hour, buffet-style dinner and dancing late into the evening. Here's one of the couples' favorite touches at the big day: The thoughtful staff stocked their suite with chocolate-covered strawberries, champagne and a club sandwich, which they hungrily devoured at the end of the night.

Cake

This bride and groom enjoyed vanilla cake with raspberry filling made by Tammy Barr (Cakes by Tammy; 724/225-3993, cakesbytammy.com).

Music

Jimmy's best friend, disc jockey Rick Wirth (Life of the Party Productions; 412/821-7210), made sure the newlyweds' party kicked into high gear and stayed there until the reception ended around midnight.
