12/13/00: Dave & Dave
TV stars become Dave & Dave radio stars! Pittsburgh
morning radio & comedy icon Jimmy Krenn invited the
boys on the show and the rest as they say is history! We never
left!
11/23/00: The
second all-Dave half-hour OnQ special. This time the Daves put
together something we'd really want to watch: A Dave & Dave
Thanksgiving Day Modeling Spectacular!
10/9/00: The
Daves find nirvana, not the band, but rather a home away from home:
The Pittsburgh Brewing
Company! The Daves got "hands-on" on the assembly
line helping all along the way making the quintessential Pittsburgh
beverage: Iron City Beer!
9/29/00: CBS
may have developed "Survivor," but Dave & Dave
perfected it. The two Daves, lost in the woods stumbled across
tracker and
all-around survival guy David Rohm and proceeded to vote each
other off as they learned basic survival skills.
9/4/00: Dave & Dave
get their first half-hour OnQ special: A "Labor Dave" special
complete with an online contest. The prize was kind of crappy
though. You won a free Hawaiian shirt and the chance to appear
in an adventure
with us! Oh, boy!
8/9/00: An
RV dealer in Irwin gave Dave & Dave a 35-foot Winnebago to
travel across the state in search of Pennsylvania's little grand
canyon.
We found the Grand Canyon and got 5 excellent TV adventures out
of it, but the RV dealer won't take our calls. Go figure. This
was also
our first significant feature article in Pittsburgh
magazine.
7/13/00: Mickey
Spillane and Mike Hammer have nothing on two gumshoe-wannabes named
Dave & Dave. They fell right into a dimestore detective novel
with the help of real life private eye Bob
Kresson. This adventure marked the first OnQ on-screen kiss!
And, NO, it wasn't between the two Daves!
7/6/00: Most
people dream of seeing their face on the big screen. The Daves
dreamt of having their mugs on their own brand of Bar-B-Q sauce
which led them to Bar-B-Q master George Wilson and his famous North
Side restaurant. The rest is culinary history!
6/10/00: Sure,
the Daves have heard a thousand times that they were just a couple
of pretty faces, but they put their money where there mouths were
and strutted their stuff with all of the other model hopefuls on
the catwalk at the John
Casablancas Modeling Agency. The Daves wind up literally
losing their shirts in this one!
6/7/00: The
Daves take a page out of Puffy's book and produce a segment for
OnQ with 105.9 the X's Debbie "Buck" Wilde as the talent.
It was called "Bad Hair Day," and it was a manic 5
minutes of on-the-spot yinzer makeovers. Big hair fun!
6/2/00: Who
hasn't seen those neat windbreakers FBI agents
wear in the movies? But is that reason enough to try out for the
Bureau? Well it was for the Daves! It would have been a lot easier
if they just put in a gift shop.
5/12/00: When
thinking of a career change, who hasn't thought of becoming a golf
pro? Enter Tom Beeler, club pro at Grandview
Golf Club. After a day of absorbing all of the knowledge
and punishment Tom could dish out, the Daves, needless to say wound
up way over par.
4/7/00: Traditionally,
fencing is one of those sophisticated sports that require years
of training and discipline. Well, in one day the Daves fenced their
way right out of the studio and all over Pittsburgh for a truly
extreme afternoon. 105.9 The X's Alan Cox lent himself and his
air studio to some of our chaos. This segment also marked Carol
Lee Espy's first TV shower scene!
3/31/00: Everyone
needs to relax, and that includes Dave & Dave. Feeling overwhelmed
the Daves book a day in the luxurious hands of Eva Szabo and
her well-trained staff. It's a full-on spa treatment from facials
to
sea weed wraps. Eva has several European Skin Care locations
throughout Pittsburgh.
2/12/00: The
Daves quest to become professional lacrosse players lands them
at Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena where they storm the practice of
the Pittsburgh
Crossefire, the area's professional team at the time.
A lot of hitting each other with sticks!
